October 2010 Charity-of-the-Month
Brenda Stafford Centre is Clearview's October 2010 Charity of the Month
Calgary, AB (Canada) – November 10, 2010. ClearView Plumbing announced that the Brenda Stafford Center is the winner of its October 2010 Charity of the Month.
The Brenda Strafford Center was established in January 1996 when it became apparent that there was a dire need in Calgary for long-term accomodation for women leaving emergency shelters. The foundation invited the heads of local crisis shelters and other active community members to for an advisory committee to suggest solutions to this very serious problem.
In cooperation with Calgary Housing Company, The Brenda Strafford Society for the Prevention of Domestic Violence opens it's doors to women and their children who had fled domestic violence. The centre was to provide safe accomodation for stays up to six months.
The Centre is named for Brenda Strafford for late wife of Dr. Barrie Strafford, founder of the Brenda Strafford Foundation Ltd.
